About Me

Hi! I am Francois J. Haasbroek and I’ve been operating part-time as a local musician in Cape Town for the past 10 years. I am available for solo or full band gigs, whether it’s for a private party, a wedding or big events. My repertoire consists of 300+ popular folk and acoustic rock-styled covers.

Please keep an eye on my Facebook page to keep in touch with the latest gigs, news and to make bookings.

A few facts about me

TedxI started hosting Open-Mic Nights at Julian’s Coffee Shop in Stellenbosch in 2004. Since then I have played weddings, bars (including Brazen Head Stellenbosch for three years), birthday parties, conferences and various other gigs in places ranging from Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Namibia, Chicago, Pretoria, and a lot of places in between. I have opened for Francois van Coke, Koos Kombuis, Gerald Clark and more.

I got my start on the guitar in the church CSV group where I led the worship sessions for teenagers in my home town, Ladismith.

About me and my band

Together with Pompies Burger, Abrie Vermeulen and Deon Blaauw, we formed a band, Jude, in 2006. After playing for a couple of years, everybody went their own way, but I kept at it on my own.

When my friend are able to join, we do the three piece band thing. But on my own, I perform solo gigs where I sing popular favourites, golden oldies and classic songs that never go out of style.

About my work ethic

I am not your typical musician – I am dependable, presentable and always on time. With years of experience entertaining large crowds, private parties and weddings, I pride himself on my work ethic, musical knowledge and pristine equipment.

When I am not rocking it out on my prized Martin guitar, I love traveling through Africa and writing (and drawing maps as a trained cartographer) for the travel magazine, Weg! and Go.
